Who We Are

Urban Hope Development was launched February 2013, and became an official 501c3 nonprofit organization May 2015. Our focus areas are:  Crisis Assistance/Intake, Education, Economic Development & Housing.  Since the Summer of 2014, Urban Hope Development has been providing quality Summer enrichment designed to stop Summer Learning Loss to Fairfield City Schools rising 6th, 7th & 8th grade students, through UHope Success Academy. There is a significant achievement gap for many   at-risk students from low-income communities as compared to middle or upper income communities.  Some of this gap can be attributed to the lack of educational stimulation available in these communities during the Summer months.  25% of the students attending Fairfield City Schools are considered homeless.   Being able to access quality programs outside of the community can be a challenge due to the lack of transportation available.  Urban Hope Development is providing a holistic approach for students and their families, by addressing Emergency needs, Education, Economic Development and Housing, along with a variety of other barriers to long term-sustainable change in families as well as our surrounding communities.
